Opportunity is a Golden Ticket

It is fantastic to find the opportunity that inspires you, the Golden Ticket that helps you take on the world and win. No matter who you are or what you do, one Golden Ticket is opportunity. Most people have heard the expression, “Opportunity only knocks once.” As nice as that expression is, the golden ticket may come in realizing that sometimes you have to go find the opportunity you want.

In order to succeed, to get things done, people need a chance to play the game. That chance is opportunity. Opportunity does not guarantee you will succeed. Opportunity does give you a chance to try, it puts you in the game. What you do with the opportunity is up to you. Opportunity is the Golden Ticket. Like with any ticket, you can use it to get into the show or you can sit on the ticket and let others watch the show. After all, whether you use the ticket or not, the show will go on. Opportunity works the same way, whether you take advantage of it or not, life moves on.

Find something that inspires you, it is your Golden Ticket to take on the world and win!

It is important to keep in mind that opportunities, aka Golden Tickets, are very much like gold.  This means that you have to get up and move to find opportunities. To find opportunities you must dig deep and then leap. No matter what you want to accomplish in life, you must take advantage of opportunities when they come along.. More importantly though, you must go and look for opportunities to succeed. For example, if you want to teach Sunday school, you must take advantage of the opportunity to go to church. If you want a promotion at work, you must take advantage of opportunities to network with the decision makers at your job.  If you want to help influence policy at your children’s school, you must take advantage of opportunities to go to HSA meetings to meet with other parents, teachers and administrators to learn what actually happens at the school.  Don’t sit and wait for opportunity, go look for it.  When you look for opportunity, keep in mind it is a game you must win. It is like hide and seek. You must go to where opportunity is hiding, seek it out, find it, grab it and use it to succeed.

If you want inspiration to find your own Golden Ticket, go get a copy of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory of your own. In conclusion, it is fantastic to find the opportunity that inspires you, the Golden Ticket that helps you take on the world and win.  So, the question for you this fantastic day is, what inspires you to take action now?

This post was inspired by the classic http://www.roalddahl.com, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. To celebrate, Penguin Young Readers Group, in partnership with Dylan’s Candy Bar, the world-famous candy emporium, and First Book, a nonprofit social enterprise that provides books for children from low-income families, is launching a year-long international celebration.

Head over to From Left to Write to learn how you and your child can have a chance to win the Golden Ticket Sweepstakes where the grand prize is a magical trip to New York City plus much more! For every entry submitted, Penguin Young Readers Group will make a donation to First Book. Then, join From Left to Write on July 24 as we discuss Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. As a book club member, I received a copy of the book for review purposes.

  1. Love the concept of the “golden ticket” and I love Roald Dahl, such great children’s books.

  2. Stepping outside your comfort zone is always scary. But once you take that first leap, you see that it wasnt as bad as you thought.

  3. Some opportunities can be so scary to take, but you have to leap while the door’s open or you might miss it all together. I think a lot of great things come from just taking the chance.

  4. Very good quote! My project this fall is to learn how to make greeting cards! I want o design my own holiday cards!

  5. I think that when we’re brave and willing to go out of our comfort zones and + seek out those “golden ticket moments,” the risk is always worth it! I’ve always loved the whimsy of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and try not too be too much like Veruca Salt. 🙂

  6. Thanks for reminding me. My blogging inspires me. It opens so many doors to such amazing experiences for me and my family, I am very grateful. But sometimes I forget! So, that’s where the thanks to you comes in for today!

  7. Finding inspiration should really be the base of all you do otherwise it’s hard to keep the momentum up! Whether it’s how hard you work at work or your fitness goals! (those are my personal ones I work real hard for my inspiration to keep me going!)

  8. I agree, many times opportunity won’t knock at all. You have to be willing to go out and look for it!

  9. Sometimes opportunity knocks, and sometimes you have to reach out your door and wrestle it into submission. Either way, the main thing you have to do is have the courage to go after what you want.

  10. I invested in a new idea just last night. (I’m not releasing too much about my idea just yet.) I’m excited because it’s something so different than anything I’ve tried before. I’m hoping it’s successful. I saw the opportunity and jumped on it. 🙂

  11. Such a great concept. It is a golden ticket. Now just find that opportunity!

  12. I like the comparison of calling opportunity a golden ticket. All too often we don’t snatch that golden ticket and opportunities just pass us by. I need to start thinking of them as golden tickets so I don’t miss out when opportunity does come knocking!

  13. Inspiration can help you along in life.I always say life is what you make it.I am not the sort of person to sit around and wait for something to happen I go and make it happen.

  14. In that case, the audition is still an opportunity and you should still make the most of it. If you get the role, that role may be a Golden Ticket.

  15. You are the first person I have ever heard get inspired by makeup. It is great because makeup can do so much to make you look and feel better.

  16. I’ve realized that despite all my hard work lately, my “Golden Ticket” has not come because I’ve not updated my groundwork. So I’m saying “yes” to nearly all opportunities, while renovating and building up the foundation as well!

  17. But what about an opportunity that is merely an audition? It’s not a golden ticket because the producers and the casting directors and sheer fate are working against you. I agree that you have to be the best you can be and hope it’s the right fit.

  18. I think too many people let fear get in the way. You will never know what you can do until you take a chance. Having something that inspire you is fortunate

  19. I definitely think sometimes we need to take a chance when we get it and just go for it.
