No Procrastination – Pick Something and Do It!

don't procrastinate the most important thing and just do it www.janeanesworld.com

It is terrific to learn to defeat procrastination by selecting the most important thing and doing that thing. Despite warnings to the contrary, every day, people put off until tomorrow things they should and could do today. This phenomenon is called procrastination. There are as many reasons for procrastination as there are procrastinators. Procrastination is the enemy of progress and the friend of failure. If there is something you want to get done, no matter what it is, stop procrastinating. One way to do that is to pick the most important task at the start of each day.

When you look at your to do list, if you are like most wives and mothers, the list is LONG, very long. Sometimes when you wake up and look at your to do list and your bedside clock, the list is so intimidating all you want to do is roll over, and pull the covers back up. Don’t feel bad about that, the feeling is not unique to you, it is a feeling that almost every person on the planet has felt at one time or another. Instead of going back under the covers, instead of ignoring it all, pick the most important thing on the list. Look at the list and figure out the one thing, the single most important thing that if you got that one thing done, you would feel like a success at the end of the day.

It’s your life, don’t clown around and don’t procrastinate. Pick the most important thing and do it!

Once you identify the one thing that will make you feel successful at the end of the day, take the steps necessary to get that one thing done.  As you are working, don’t worry about the rest of the list. Don’t have a pity party about the things you are not getting done, look only at the one most important thing you must do that day in order to feel better at the end of the day. Is there laundry all over the house and you have to do it before social services comes and takes the kids away? If so, do the laundry, scrape together leftovers for dinner and get the laundry done. Do you have a sponsored post that you must write or risk losing a great contact forever? If so, sit down and write that post, your readers can hear all about your great adventures doing something else later . Is there a proposal for a client you have been dreading and the deadline is fast approaching? Sit down, gut it out and get it done, you will feel better when the job is finished.
