Even though it is hard, it is fantastic to have work and home obligations. Women who work have professional obligations that must be met on a regular basis. At the same time, any woman with a family has obligations to her family that must be met on a daily basis. For some people, attempting to balance these obligations is overwhelming. For me, the solution to these competing obligations is getting dressed before I get out of bed. By that I mean, put on your big girl panties and your fake it until you make it dress and get a good attitude about it all. Think about things realistically, no matter how much you complain, pout and hate the situation is not going to disappear on its own. Additionally, while everyone has heard the expression “misery loves company,” no one wants to be that company.
It is fantastic to have a good home life because it makes going to work worth doing. For many people the biggest joy they have in life is the ability to come home at the end of a long day and get hugs and kisses from family members. It makes all the stresses of the day seem worthwhile when you have a loving home to return to each day. The movie The Wiz had a great song about home. One of my favorite lines from the song is, “When I think of home I think of a place where there is love overflowing.” I always think of my home that way. It is wonderful to know that no matter what my day is like, no matter how many dragons I must slay during the day, when I get home life is calm and good. I will see my husband, my children will … Continue reading →

As a result, these people start the day with a bad attitude toward work and continue with a bad attitude throughout the day. Imagine what would happen if instead those people started the day with a good attitude and continued it throughout the day. Instead of hating work and dreading the approach of each morning, make a change and fall in love with work because it makes home possible. First let’s look at some reasons to love what work makes possible at home:

A reality of life in modern day America is that most people have responsibilities both inside and outside the home. While for the most part work home hours and work hours don’t coincide, it is natural to think of obligations to one side while on duty with the other. When you are at work, whether you work at home or a traditional workplace, your employer, employees and customers expect you to be at … Continue reading →
It is terrific to raise the bar on discipline at home and at work. Recently I had a coaching session with personal coach, ChaChana Simpson of Your Stellar Star. It was indeed an enlightening experience. I spoke with her for an hour-long session and we talked about what I wanted from my life at home and work as well as what was keeping me from getting what I wanted. To sum up the hour in one quick sound bite, the answer was discipline. I needed to raise the bar on discipline. photo credit: crypto via photopin cc As anyone who reads this blog quickly discovers, I am a wife and mother of four children. All four of my children have been assigned household chores commensurate with their age and ability. However, I had a habit of letting them get away with not doing the chores and then getting angry at the … Continue reading →
