Technology Can be Fun Be Thankful for That

One terrific thing about technology is that it can be a lot of fun. It is common knowledge that technology in terms of smart phones, tablets, laptops and the like help us to be more productive and to work efficiently. What those of us who rely on technology for work need to realize is that our fancy devices, our technological marvels have another side. Our devices can be a lot of fun! I am talking about just plain silly fun.

Many people are going crazy using their devices to play Candy Crush and a few (million) seem to have become addicted to it. There is so much more our technology can do for fun. Take my e-reader for example. I use a Kindle Paperwhite e-reader. On my Kindle I have Scrabble, chess, and about eight different word games. To keep me from just sitting all the time, I have an interactive yoga program that is quite enjoyable.

I use a Kindle Fire HD as my tablet device. For fun I have added a bunch of great apps. Here are just a few of the fun things on my tablet:

* Abalone
* Bubble Buster
* Chess
* Classic Jewels
* The Game of Life
* Mancala
* The Sims
* Tetris
* Texas Hold’em Poker
* Word Game Pro
* Wordsmith Free

A person who looks at my devices will not be surprised about all the word games found there. I do like words, wonderful whirling words. It gives me a great deal of pleasure to use my technology to have fun, to take a break from the serious world and just enjoy being a woman who loves to play with words just for the fun of it.

It is important to remember that all work and no play makes Jill a dull girl. At the same time, all work and no play will make Jill a stressed out girl. Use your technology to make your work time more productive, more efficient and easier to manage. However, take advantage of the memory, beautiful video and amazing sound that our devices now have to do something fun and enjoyable.

A 15 minute break once or twice during the day for fun will relax you and send you back to work with a smile. Everyone has heard the expression, misery loves company, but no one wants to be that company. A short break from the rigors of work for a few minutes will put you in a good mood and send you skipping back to work with a smile instead of a frown. It is nice to be able to take a stress relief break, releases the tension in the shoulders and come back to the work tasks refreshed, feeling good and ready to go.

In conclusion, technology can be a lot of fun and that is something to be thankful about. So, the question for you this terrific day is, what is the most fun you have with your technology?

  1. What fun apps you have on your device. Technology indeed is wonderful when use well. Candy Crush sure has been the rave these days and addictive!

  2. I have Bejeweled Blitz, Word Search and lots of kids’ app because my little boys play with my iPad and phone.

  3. I am so addicted to Pinterest and Minion Rush on my phone! Too often I’m taking a break for a little fun 🙂

  4. I worked in the technology field for too many years so I no longer look at it as fun. I work on my computer and use my phone for calls and that is it. My youngest uses all of my devices for games though.

  5. Yes – technology can be fun! Sometimes I forget because I’m always using tech for work, but it’s nice to be able to sit back and ENJOY the technology as well

  6. Gadgets or technology is sometimes helping us to clear our mind from a stressful day and also it is another way of helping us with our work fast.

  7. I have to admit I go through fads with games I’ll play one for a while and then move on to the next.

  8. I am a big fan of word games too. I need to download some new apps for my iPhone and iPad – the ones I have on them have been there for months and I need a change!

  9. I love technology. I have a NOOK, a ipad( that my son has taken over) and my iphone. I love that I can go on my lunch break and take my phone to watch a video, listen to music, read blogs, get on facebook, twitter….I love the convenience of it all!

  10. I still haven’t gotten into the e-readers or tablets. I really just think they don’t fit my lifestyle. I do love that the Kindle has so many apps on it. I grabbed one for my sister last year and she’s in love with it. She uses it all of the time.

  11. I love playing games on my iPhone. I actually play a lot of Facebook games through the apps on the phone opposed to actually playing the games through the browser on the computer.
