Use Technology To Be More Productive

Technology-can-help-you be more productive

It is terrific to be thankful for your technology because it can make you more productive. Technology is commonly defined as the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes. Productivity is commonly defined as the ability of being able to generate, create or enhance goods and services. So, it makes sense that technology would help increase productivity. When you apply scientific knowledge to the creation or enhancement of a service, of course things should work better! There are a few major areas where technology can help increase productivity. These include:

1. Task Management – There are many people who still keep to do lists in paper form. This can be managed more efficiently with technology. On a paper tasks a must be re-written when they are changed or moved to a different day.If one discovers a task has three steps instead of two after writing a paper copy, the task must be re-written. This leads to mistakes, sloppiness and disorganization. Technology can help us be more productive by handling these chores faster and neater.

2. Advanced Voice Mail – Once upon a time, when phones were still attached to wires people had a device called answering machine. These machines recorded messages on cassette tapes that could be replayed later. Later answering machines stored messages digitally. Today, voice mail systems are more advanced. My voice mail for example will transcribe messages left for me and send me an email of each message as it is left. My system tells me when I miss a call and when messages are let. I have a record of every call received and every message going back six years. This has made it very easy to track conversations and follow-up with clients. Receiving emails of my messages on my cell phone, tablet and laptop make it easier or me to be productive by allowing me to receive these messages on the go.

3. Organizing Multiple Calendars – Today we are busier than ever. It seems that most people, at a minimum, have calendars for home, work, spouse and children. Paper calendars have a finite amount of space and sometimes it is difficult to fit everything into the space allotted. Digital calendars on the other hand allow for the addition of information without reducing readability. Additionally digital calendars make combining multiple calendars as easy as pie. Digital calendar maintenance helps us be more productive.

There are a great number of other tasks that technology helps make more productive including correspondence via email, scheduling, sign ups via things like Sign Up Genius and event planning through things like EventBrite. Each day there are new and exciting products and software applications that apply scientific knowledge to our lives and make it possible for us to be more productive.

In conclusion, it is terrific for technology because it can make you more productive. So, the question for you this terrific day is, what do you do to increase your productivity?

  1. I do agree with you, technology helps us to make our things easier, quicker but we shouldn’t rely everything into technology for it makes us human become more nonfunctional.

  2. The advancement of technology has disadvantages and advantages too. But for the most part, technology does indeed makes our work a lot easier.

  3. I am a technology junkie. At this point, if I didnt have it I am not sure what I would do. I rely on it for just about every aspect of my life.

  4. Technology helps me be more productive because with the help of my devices, I can work from anywhere. I still use a pen and paper from time to time because apps don’t always work when I want them to.

  5. It’s amazing how much technology is available. I’ve never heard about the transcribe message for your voice mail. Cool!

  6. Up until earlier this year I was very technologically inept. I am still learning how to best organize my tasks using computers, smart phones, and anything I can figure out how to maneuver. Great tips.

  7. Technology is great, but can also be very frustrating. It seems every time I figure it out, it changes. I am glad for all of the wonderful things that are out there though!

  8. I am horrible, I worked in IT for years and still rely on a hand written calendar. I end up getting things all messed up when I try to do it digitally. I like having the dry erase calendar on my office wall so I can see what I have at a glance. I love all other technology, but in this area feel like I will always be outdated.

  9. Very useful tips. Since downloading my digital calendar, I’ve completely abandoned my hard copy calendar. You are absolutely spot on about the ability to manage multiple calendars when they are digital.

  10. Great tips. I wish I could just learn how to truly harness a digital calendar…I find it really hard to move away from a paper one. I really need to utilize a calender more often.
