031614 The Week In Review
For many people, Sunday is a day of rest, for review, a day to catch up on the reading missed over the course of the week. If you are one of those people, this is the place for you! Here are the things we covered on Janeane’s World this week.
1. The week started with a fun story about my trip the Harlem Globetrotters game in Philadelphia, Pa.
It is magnificent to see one of your children smile with pure joy at an event and that is why going to see the Harlem Globetrotters is one of my favorite events ever. Last year I took my three youngest children to the Liacouras Center to see the Harlem Globetrotters for the first time. We had a spectacular time. Yesterday we went back again. The game was incredible!
2. Next came the idea that we need to take action on our dreams now instead of keeping them in the china closet of our lives.
It is magnificent to take action now and realize there is no reason to keep waiting. Take action now means get up and do what needs doing, now, not later, now. Many people treat their dreams and plans like fine china in a china closet. That means that their dreams and plans sit on display waiting to be used “someday.” The sad thing is that “someday” never comes. However, a person has to take action now at some point in order to get things done, you cannot keep your plans in the china closet forever if you want to succeed.
3. The next idea was that advance planning can be used to top procrastination.
It is terrific to figure out how to act instead of procrastinate and as a result get things done is to prepare in advance. There are almost as many cures for procrastination as there are people procrastinating. One thing that may help you to procrastinate less is to prepare in advance for what needs to be done. Almost everyone has heard the expression, “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”
4. Next was the idea that when looking for a job we need to use all our resources, those in the real world and in our social networks.
It is wonderful to use all your networks to find a new job. Once upon a time, when people were looking for jobs they waited for the Sunday edition of the newspaper to be printed because it had all the classified listings. Then all week long commuter trains and buses would be full of people traveling off to one interview or another based on the prospects they spent all day Sunday circling. Technology has moved by leaps and bounds so that most job leads in the classified sections of newspapers are found online rather than in the actual paper. Just as the places where we look for jobs has changed over the years, so must our ways of networking to look for work.
5. An article that challenge readers to change the world came next.
It is fantastic to know you can change the world right where you are with what you have. Once upon a time, people had to be rich, famous or powerful to change the world, thankfully those days are long gone. Today anyone with a smart phone can start a blog and start changing the world. The world is a better place because of that!
6. The final article of the week was the weekly better blogging and better business series.
Where my favorite article of the week dealt with how to use Pinterest to increase blog traffic.
In this article I gave some great articles on better blogging and better business that I have found interesting during the past week. I advised readers to be sure to check both sets of articles, because there is often relevant overlap.
Thank you for stopping by to visit with us. I hope your visit was a good one and that you will be back soon. Before you go, the question for you is, what was the best part of your week?
Looks like you were very busy this week! Enjoy your day of rest; I know I will.
