#040118 Sunday – The Week in Review
Some people find serenity one day per week by reviewing the news they have missed during the course of the week. If you are one of those people, this is the place for you! Here are the things we covered in Janeane’s World this week.
First – Love Yourself
You can find serenity in learning to love yourself first. Everyone has heard the expression, “love your neighbor as you love yourself.” The second part of that statement in many ways is easier for many people. It seems to be common sense to be nice to others. People understand being courteous to others – holding doors, not interrupting, giving another the best that one has to offer. In most homes, there is a guest bedroom, guest towels and other special niceties for others. No one ever thinks of this as unusual. It seems to be common sense that one should be nice to guests, visitors, and others. Why then, do so many people have such a hard time showing themselves love?

Create a TAN Network to Help You Take Action Now
It is magnificent to learn a new way to take action now by creating a TAN network. In order to accomplish your mission, to get things done and to make your dreams come true, there always comes a time when you must TAN aka Take Action Now. No matter how much you plan, no matter how much you dream, no matter how much you want something to happen, it will never happen until you actually take action. The key to success and accomplishing your goals is to take action now. Sometimes we can find something in ourselves that gives us what we need in order to take action now to accomplish our goals. However, sometimes we cannot do it all on our own and we need people to work with us, to help push us to take action now. When you are at a point where you need help to take action now and to get motivated to take action, but cannot act on your own, it is time to gather a support network.
When you are looking for a support network, don’t just gather people who you like.

Go Touch It
It is terrific to take the mystery out of technology by going to the store and touching it. Advertisements on television, the internet and in print media show us all kinds of new and exciting technology and devices on a regular basis. In addition, by doing research on almost any search engine or store website, we see photos and descriptions of all kinds of technology. The photos, videos, and descriptions make the devices look quite wonderful and exciting. I have seen commercial for pieces of technology that made me literally drool with desire. These advertisements, no matter how beautiful, detailed and vibrant are all missing something. I am still left with a desire to reach out and touch, feel and hold the device.

Learn Better Ways to Find a Job – Industry Publications
It is wonderful to learn better ways to do a job search such as reading industry publications. Each day people across the country look for jobs. Some of these job seekers are traditional 9 to 5 employees. Other job seekers are freelancers and still others are entrepreneurs looking for new clients. No matter what category you fall into, your job search will be more successful when you read industry publications.
Power – What Is It Good For
It is terrific to learn that power can be used for good and does not have to be used to hurt those around you. One definition of power found in New Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary is the “ability or capacity to do something,” “control or dominion or a position of control, dominion or authority,” and “a person who exercises control, influence or authority.” These definitions, in and of themselves are not inherently negative, harmful or bad. This means that neither power itself or the exercise of power should be seen as negative or something to avoid or fear. Many people have heard the expression, “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” This means that it is not power itself that is the problem, but how one uses power that causes problems.
What’s Your Customer Service Policy
Almost everyone has heard the expression “the customer is always right.” I have never believed that statement and have never taught it to any of my employees. However, I do believe that it is important to treat customers with respect and appreciation. I also believe that you must never forget that customers, satisfied customers, keep your business in business. Customers bring money into your business and since you are in business to make money, you must respect and appreciate those bringing that money into the business.
Want Better Balance – Enjoy the Good Moments
It may not be possible to divide your time evenly between home and work but you can balance better if you learn to enjoy the good moments. So often when we are at work we feel guilty because we are not at home. Then, when we are at home or we take time away from work for family, we feel guilty for taking time off from work. What if instead, we enjoyed work when we are at work and enjoy home when we are at home?
Herman Melville’s Moby Dick – Sometimes Stuff Is Hard
It is sensational to look at a classic book like Herman Melville’s Moby DIck and learn that sometimes stuff is hard, so suck it up buttercup. About two years ago I read Herman Melville’s Moby Dick for the first time. I had managed to get through high school, college and law school without ever picking it up. But, with my e-reader in hand I collected as many classic books as my cloud storage could hold and started working my way through them. I have said it before, and I will say it again, Moby Dick is one of the worst books I have ever read and I have literally read thousands upon thousands of books.
In conclusion, some people find serenity one day per week by reviewing the news they have missed during the course of the week. Thank you for stopping by to visit with us. I hope your visit was a good one and that you will be back soon. Before you go, the question for you is, what was the best part of your week?
