#092417 Sunday – The Week In Review
Some people find serenity one day per week by reviewing the news they have missed during the course of the week. If you are one of those people, this is the place for you! Here are the things we covered on Janeane’s World this week.
My Children and I Are Not Friends
There is serenity in realizing that when it comes to your children, you are supposed to be a parent, not a friend. Parenting techniques, like fashions, seem to flow in circles. Ideas that were once radical and cutting edge become dated and fall out of use, only to be seen as new again years later. In my recent travels, I have come across some parents who tell me I should treat my children as equals and as my friends. I don’t understand how that idea works. My children range in age from 10 to 21. I do not have any friends in that age range. I have a husband, children, a mortgage, bills, a business, a blog and am looking for more income. Outside of being related, there is nothing that would lead me to be friends with people I would meet in this age range. Click here to read more.
It is Always Time to Start Again
It is magnificent to take action now with a new attitude.
At the beginning of each year, everyone makes lists of new things they will accomplish and all kinds of great and wonderful achievements they will complete by the end of the year. By February of each year, the vast majority of those resolutions are abandoned by people who lacked the one thing they needed more than anything else in order to achieve those resolutions – the right mental attitude. I really like the phrase “right mental attitude.” I first heard it when I read the book, “Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice.” The right mental attitude is an attitude of success and accomplishment. There is a lot of difference between the wrong mental attitude and the right mental attitude. Click here to read more.
Use Technology in a New Way – Cell Phone Camera
reviewIt is terrific to use your cell phone camera in new and exciting ways to make life easier. As time goes by the devices we use become more and more sophisticated, smaller and more commonplace. Not that long ago, people could not imagine the need for cellular phones. Now it is almost impossible to live without them. Since we are carrying smartphones that are full of all kinds of features and applications, it makes sense to use our phones for more than just making telephone calls. Click here to read more.
Be Grateful for Work
It is thrilling to be able to find help for your business when you need it. Once your business plan has been completed and your business is up and running, things will go smoothly for a while. Then sooner, rather than later, problems will arise and you will need help. In the spirit of you don’t get ready, you stay ready, prepare a list of resources to depend upon for help before help is actually needed. Click here to read more.
Sharing Your Balancing Secrets
Almost everyone knows someone who has the home/work balancing act all wrong. These people are easy to recognize. It is the co-worker who is always in danger of getting fired for handling all his personal affairs on company time. It is the mom who never has time for her husband and kids because she is either always at work or taking care of work when she is at home. Click here to read more.
” Guess How Much I Love You”
A good bedtime story has miraculous powers. It can make children feel happy, safe, and secure. It can make parents feel powerful because they can make their children happy. Bedtime stories are not things to be taken lightly. You may never have thought of it before, but a good bedtime is a crucial piece of your business success kit. Keep a good bedtime story or two near your desk at home so that you can pull it out to help you at bedtime. When you travel for work, keep a good bedtime story or two in your suitcase so you can read it to your children at night. You will be glad you did. Click here to read more.
