In order for life to have meaning and to truly be worthwhile, it needs to serve a purpose. Work provides a purpose to life. Of course, work is not our sole purpose for living. But, it cannot be denied that work does provide a purpose. It gives us a thing to do and a place to do it. It doesn’t matter if a person works as a housekeeper in a hotel or as the chief executive officer of a Fortune 500 company, work provides purpose. A thing that provides purpose, makes a person necessary. A thing that makes you a necessary part of the world must be respected and appreciated.

Take a moment now to think about the work you do. No matter what that work is, it is not done in a vacuum. Your work is part of the larger economy. When you earn money from the work you do, that money is spent and invested. That means that other businesses are able to earn and invest money.
