7 Steps to Take Action Now Even if You Don’t Like It — 36 Comments

  1. I like that expression. I am going to add it to my motivation bulletin board. “Suck it up, buttercup.”

  2. Great tips and suggestions. Meetings can be dreadful but they give you the chance to speak up and talk about the issues.

  3. Great tips! It can be hard to do something you don’t want to, but my motto is usually Suck it up, Buttercup 🙂

  4. Sometimes we have to put our big girl pants on and just do it. My motto is get it done so you have more time for fun.

  5. Great words of advice! It’s so true! About the only thing I really avoid and I promise myself to do better each month is paying bills and shredding unneeded documents and filing. I hate that task when it pertains to my own personal stuff but that’s probably because it’s what I do all day at work. But I do try and someday I will succeed!

  6. I’ve gotten the kids to take over cat feeding duties. They remember 75% of the time, which is pretty good!

  7. A perfect motivation for those of us who needs it. We all have those days in our lives where whether we like it or not, we have to do it. Great article. It is a reminder for me too

  8. Perfect for my life.. Thanks for the motivation and take charge attitude!

  9. Growing up is definitely accepting that sometimes unpleasant things must be done.

  10. I’m pretty good at tackling what has to be done – straight on. Putting things off only makes it worse for me – so I want to get it done and over with.

  11. This is just the motivation I needed right now. So many things I don’t want to do right now that need to be done.

  12. I already took it on. Getting up in the morning with the kids. (Usually hubs does it so I can get some sleep while he’s getting ready for work.)

  13. This article is a great motivator! I admit that I try to avoid unpleasant confrontations as often as possible, but Im working at getting better at this and taking more action and control over the situation. The feeling afterwards is truly empowering.

  14. This is such a kick in the butt that I needed. I put things off because I don’t like them and then I just get further behind. I just need to suck it up.

  15. Today I actually kinda did this. I made myself do the two things I least wanted to do but that were most important first.

  16. Thanks for sharing your 7 step plan. Sometimes I really need to mentally prepare for things I dislike doing.

  17. I love the quote, “show up like a grown up”. Just the motivation I needed.

  18. Sometimes it stinks to be an adult but we just need to put our big people pants on and deal with it.

  19. This is pretty good ideas and advice. There are a lot of things I guess I should get busy doing. A list works kind of good for me until I get near the bottom then I seem to fizzle out.

  20. Great list. I am so bad about deadlines, that is one area I need to improve on.

  21. I need this advice! I’m terrible about cleaning the floors. I sweep them up but hate mopping!!

  22. I’m lucky I have my husband to push me, I’m very anxious about social situations and I’d miss out on a lot of things without him

  23. I always make list and then check them off as soon as done. I think just knowing that even if I don’t like it, it has to get done so no use fussing over it.

  24. This is so important! I have a friend who is in her first job and she complains constantly about the things they ask her to do. I keep pointing out that everything she is asked to do has been a part of her job description, even if she doesn’t like it, and they aren’t being unreasonable. But she feels she shouldn’t have to do the menial tasks – ever. It’s so important to rise about the things we don’t like and to do them well anyway. – Katy

  25. I am so busy and have so much on my plate that if I don’t write everything down I forget!
Almost needing a note pad and pen by the bed for those middle of the night “I forgot” panic attacks!

  26. I am not a big fan of doing things I like, so I avoid them as much as possible.
