books- develop healthy reading habits

Books are an important part of developing healthy reading habits and a love of life. With the uprise of electronic devices, people predict that books are dead, but that could not be further from the truth! Books both paper bound and electronic are part of what makes life great.

It is great to have healthy reading habits.

When I was a child, there was a television show called, “Reading Rainbow.” The show was created to encourage children to read and to look for answers in books. Here are a few of the lines from the show’s theme song was,

Take a look
It’s in a book
A reading rainbow

Just as the words to the song are appropriate to children, they are appropriate for adults. The world is full of information and we need to get all we can and can all we get. There has been a book written on almost every topic under the sun. This means that no matter what you want to know, you can find out about it in a book. Additionally, one of the best things about modern technology is that we can read books, magazines, blog articles, even tweets about almost everything we want to learn. All these ways of gathering information are available on our computers, tablets and smart phones. This means that no one has to stay uninformed or ill-informed.

Healthy reading habits enable us to fill our information banks. It is a wonderful thing to encounter a situation for the first time and to feel confident you can handle it because you read about the situation in a blog article, magazine or book. When people are well-informed, they are less fearful, less xenophobic and can get along better with other people in the world. Well read, well-informed people are also more likely to advance in their careers than those who are not.

Almost anyone can develop good reading habits.

When it comes to your business and your life outside of business reading can help you to learn more and enjoy more things in life. As adults who know how to read, we need to read in order to learn. The more we like reading, the more reading we are likely to do. If you do not have a love for reading, but know you need to read in order to learn and grow, there are a few things you can do to develop your love of reading.

  • read what you like
  • read when you are not tired
  • read in the format that you like most
  • read on a regular basis
