It is wonderful to know that if you are doing a job search you can find help at the local unemployment office.

 

Sometimes when people are looking for work, they are discouraged because they remember the expression, “It is not what you know, it’s who you know.” If a person who does not know anyone with interesting job openings, that expression can be depressing. But, there is to be encouraged. When searching for a job, if you don’t know anyone with satisfactory job options, go to your local unemployment office. The office will have employees who know about jobs, a lot of jobs, in a lot of industries. There will be employees at the unemployment office whose job it is to help you find a job. Think about it. Sitting in an office somewhere Monday through Friday is a person whose job it is to find you a job. There is a person who needs to help you find a job so she can keep her job, get promoted or get a raise. That means you have the ability to know someone who knows what you need to know.

Companies located near your local employment office, which means near your home, give listings of employment opportunities to the unemployment office. When you stop by the unemployment office there will e an employee on staff to review your resume, suggest job opening you should apply for and give job search advice. One of the best parts about the services offered by the local office is that they are free of charge! This is a great example of things paid for with our tax dollars. So, if you are looking for work, stop by the local unemployment office.
