Keep the Faith Until the Change Comes

Sometimes the thrill comes from having the faith to hold on until the change comes.
Sometimes the thrill comes from having the faith to hold on until the change comes.

I like being a Christian woman and entrepreneur. There is a real comfort in believing there is a God above that loves you, cares for you, protects you and is watching over you. I like knowing that faith, can move mountains and change the world. Being a Christian does not make me think that life will always be sugar lilies and smiles. The truth of the matter is that sometimes life is hard. Sometimes we are treated unfairly and sometimes things don’t go our way. During those times, Christian faith can keep you in the fight.

Some entrepreneurs say religion has no place at work. I am not one of those entrepreneurs. I believe that my faith and religion have a place at work. This is not to say that I have sermons and prayer at work each day. I do not. I have employees, strategic partners, and customers of many different faiths. I have seen miracles happen with my business and various places of employment that could not be explained outside of my religion.

I do not have to try to convince those around me at work to share my religious beliefs.  I push forward and do what I am supposed to do at work. My religion teaches me many things when it comes to work. Here are a few:

  • a man is worthy of his hire
  • render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s
  • strive toward the mark of the high calling

A man is worthy of his hire – this means that a person deserves a good wage for good work. A good entrepreneur should never shy away from paying employees good wages and expecting good work from them. A person who works deserves the pay she earns.

Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s – this means honor obligations to the government. Follow the laws, statutes, and regulations that govern your industry. Do not hide from your obligation to pay the taxes you owe to governing authorities.

Strive toward the mark of the high calling – always put forth your best efforts. There is no pride to be gained or earned from doing a job partially, skating by, or just making due.The honorr comes from giving your best efforts to each task you attempt.

Faith, tiny little mustard seed faith can make the world better. Sometimes we are facing situations that are hard, perilous and frightening. During those times we may have no idea how we are going to get from our tragedy to solid footing on facing situations that are hard, perilous and frightening. During those times we may have no idea how we are going to get from our tragedy to solid footing on good ground. It is at those times that we need faith to carry us through. Faith is that thing that makes us believe in a certain outcome when we have no reason for that belief. Faith makes us think things will get better even when there is no evidence to support that belief.

When it comes to your business, you don’t have to wait until you have everything perfectly mapped out to act. Sometimes with your business, you will need to step out on faith and take action. All my life I was told that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” This means I became an entrepreneur with the understanding that I would not always have proof and evidence but I could still act with confidence in my ability, my business, and the outcome because of my faith in God. It is kind of cool to look at life and business through that prism.

So today it is thrilling to know that faith will carry us forward to the good outcome we know is there on the other side of this temporary problem.
