Life is Hard, Work at What You Love Because You WIll be Happier!

Life is hard work, so we might as well work at something we love.

I have spent tens of thousands of hours doing work I love and work I have to do. I have loved writing, being a litigator, and providing consulting services. I have done laundry, dishes, made beds, and wiped noses. These latter jobs, I had to do, I didn’t love to do. All of these things are important, but hard work.

Today I am celebrating working at something I love – writing. I have set my mind to working on my latest book, details later, and getting it done. It is hard work –  research,  writing, putting everything together, and finding a publisher. But, my name is Janeane Davis and hard work does not scare me.

Take Action Now Even If You Are Afraid! – Once you understand that fear doesn’t have to control you, you can take action now even when you are afraid. No matter what you are afraid of, you must acknowledge that nothing gets done if you do not do something! Click here to read more.

It is important to take time to work at something that brings you joy. There will always be chores – things you must do, whether you like them or not. At the same time, most people have things that would like to do. It is important to make time to do things you love. Human beings were not designed to live in drudgery. The United States’ Declaration of Independence recognizes that people have an inalienable right to pursue happiness. Don’t let those words be dry things on a piece of paper. Let those words breathe, sing, and have a presence in your life.

Think about it, when was the last time you did something for the sheer joy the activity would bring? If you have to spend more than three seconds to figure it out, it has been too long. Make some like changes today. One of my greatest loves is to knit. I love to knit and I am extremely good at it. So good, I could be a professional knitter. However, I never knit for people outside my family or for money. I do it for the love of the craft. I try to make time each day to work on one of the three to four, UFOs (unfinished objects) I have sitting around the house.

Today to make day to make time to do a thing you love. Figure out what the activity is and then put it on your calendar. LIterally, make space in your calendar to spend time doing something you love to do. Simply talking about it won’t make you do it. Putting it on your calendar and then following your calendar will make it happen. So do it and do it today.

The question for you this wonderful day is, what do you love and what are you working to accomplish?
