Walmart Family Mobile – Best Wireless Plan for Our Family?
The Walmart Family Mobile Plan and Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G have joined together to provide a cool phone, fun built-in applications and money-saving options in the best wireless plan. My husband, teenie bopper, and I all use cell phones and enjoy them a great deal. We all need unlimited talk, text and data plans to do the things we do on a regular basis. As you can imagine, this can be quite costly. So, I am in the market for the best wireless plan for our family. Recently during a trip to our local Walmart store I came across a display for a cheap wireless plan with the Walmart Family Mobile phone service that grabbed my attention.

This is the first sign that grabbed my attention. Walmart Family Mobile #shop

This sign indicated that the Walmart Family Mobile program had two different plans available. The first was a $29.88 per month plan that gave unlimited talk and texts. The second plan was a $39.88 per month plan that provided unlimited talk, text, and web service. The plan we are using now costs $60.00 per month for unlimited talk, text, and web service. Obviously this payment plan stopped me in my tracks and made me want to investigate further. I went to the electronics department and looked at the display rack for the Walmart Family Mobile phones and plans. I wanted to see if this plan was better than my current plan. As a responsible wife and mother, of course I want the best wireless plan for my family.

This display rack had several different phones and options. Walmart Family Mobile #shop
The display rack made it seem pretty simple, there were only four steps to go from looking at a great new phone and saving money on a phone plan:
- Choose a plan
- Choose a phone or bring your own
- Take a starter pack
- Pay at the register and activate at home
Sounds easy right? I decided to try it out with my teenie bopper first because she is pickier and more demanding than my husband and I. If the Walmart Family Mobile plan can make her happy, the rest of us will be fine. The first step in finding the best wireless plan for my family meant picking out a phone. There were three different phones in stock and available at my Walmart store. The first was the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit that was selling for 99.98. It seemed to be a good phone with a camera and good apps pre-loaded. The specs on the phone were pretty impressive, check them out:
- 5 mp camera
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
- 1 GB internal memory, 4 GB ROM
- Resolution 800 x 480
- Display 3.8″
- Battery talk time up to 9 hours
- Standby time up to 240 hours

The next phone on the shelves was the One Touch Fierce which was selling for $149.88. This was another Android phone that had a good camera, built-in apps, and nice features. I admit, the name was catchy also. When I looked at the box I saw the phone had some nice specs including:
- Vivid 4.5″ color display
- VGA camera, multimedia games, screen saver and wallpaper
- Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean)
- Battery talk time up to 8 h
- Standby time up to 450 h

The final phone available at my local Walmart store was the LG Optimus L9 which also had a camera and some really great features. It retailed for $199.88. It was designed for power users.
- Android 4.0
- 5 megapixel camera with 18 full HD video capture
- 4 GB internal storage
- 7 hours talk time
- 336 hours standby time

The features of the various phones were very similar. One of the big differences was screen size. A larger screen size means a bigger phone. I looked at all the phones on the display, picked them up, touched them, and tried to determine which one my teenie bopper would like best. I decided to go with the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit. It had all the great features I wanted in an Android phone and the size of the phone itself was nice. It was big enough to see things clearly, but small enough to fit into my teenie boppers hands, purses and backpacks with ease. I also liked the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit because it had everything I thought my teenie bopper would enjoy in a phone and at only $99.88 it was a great price. So I did what the sign told me to do. I grabbed the box containing the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit, I picked up the Starter Kit package that contained the SIM card I needed to work the phone and went to the cashier to make the purchase. I was confident this would be the best wireless plan for our family.

I crocheted this case for my teenie bopper to use to carry her new Samsung Galaxy Exhibit phone.
I am giving my teenie bopper the phone as a gift so I decided to crochet a phone case for her to make it easier for her to carry it around. This green phone case is meant to be worn messenger style. In conclusion, the Walmart Family Mobile Plan and Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G have joined together to provide a cool phone, fun built-in applications, and money-saving options in the best wireless plan. I am looking forward to seeing my teenie bopper’s face when she gets the phone!
Wow!!…This phone is one of my favorites and I can totally see why you chose it!!
I’m sure she will love it, what a great gift for your daughter and love the personal touch of making her a case. #client
Love the case for the phone! And great gift idea! #client
I am glad you husband has been using it that long and likes it. It makes me feel better about switching our family.
She saw the case and now wants a hat and gloves to match the case!
My son will be 11 soon and wants a phone. He is not as active as your son though. But you are right, there are no pay phones any more. I miss them.
She is so picky and demanding. My husband and I are still old enough to remember when people actually talked on the phone.
i am glad to hear a grown up likes the plan! I am also glad you like the case.
The money we would save if we all switch would definitely come in handy. I am glad to hear it is working for your family. That make sme feel good about the prospects.
She saw the case and liked it, but the phone is still a surprise.
This is really great to know. I have yet to look into this but I should! And, I love the crocheted case you made for her!!
I like the Walmart family mobile plan. We got two phones, one with this phone you are showing, and one with a less sophisticated phone for my son. The plans are less expensive and they are both quite happy.
What a great plan, I had no idea that Walmart had plans like this! I am definitely a Samsung girl, the exhibit looks awesome!
How can you go wrong with such a cheap unlimited plan?!
There are really some great inexpensive plans out there if you know where to look. Bet your tween is super excited for their new phone!
My son will be moving over to this plan with his brother soon. It is such a great deal.
I’ll have to check Walmart phones out for my son. We were thinking of getting him a plan for christmas…..
We are in the process of switching phone service. The unlimited talk and text looks like something I should get for my daughter who doesn’t really need web access right now. Thanks!
wow! Walmart has some awesome phone plans!
I already knew that Walmart’s plan was crazy affordable, but I didn’t realize how inexpensive those phones are too! You never see nice phones like that for that cheap without a contract. I’m impressed!
That is a great deal! Thank you so much for sharing this one because we are actually shopping for phones and we don’t really want to pay such a huge amount of money every month and nice to know that Walmart does offer such a deal. Great phones too!
What a great deal!
It’s certainly a consideration when I get out of my current contract!!! I love no contract plans like this.
My husband used Walmart Family Mobile and loves it. I have to say, that case your crocheted is super cute!
We love walmart but we haven’t bought phones from them. We asked before about their service, they offer great deals indeed.
Wow that is low. Didn’t know Walmart had such a great deal!
we have boost mobile and love it
I laughed when I read “if my teenager likes it, it will work for us too” Keep us posted on how you like theplan. I will be shopping around after Christmas!!
We are all in contracts wtih our service, but we will be looking at this when our contracts are up.
I have seen a lot of great info about this plan. I am going to have to check it out.
that is a great deal, if its not for my husband’s work we could have change a better and cheaper plan too.
I keep hearing great things about these phones and plans!
I’m seriously thinking of getting a phone for my 11 year old son because he’s in scouts and basketball and I want him to have a way to get a hold of us if he needs to. Long gone are the days of pay phones.
Oh I’m jealous! I can’t wait of my contract to end so I can get another mobile phone plan.

I have to say that I am loving that case you crocheted!
The Walmart plan really is a great one. Not as expensive as the other “big” names. I love the pouch too!
I love this idea. It’s only hubby and I who has phone at home but out monthly bill is over a hundred every month.. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds great! Wish we had this option in Canada.
I am all for saving money and no contacts. Sounds like a great option.
This looks like a great family plan. Right now, our kids are too young for phones, but it would greatly save us when we go to add extra lines for them.
Walmart has the best plans! So cheap for phone service!
I love the idea to crochet the case for the phone, a wonderful mix of tradition and modern technology. We are about to switch to a new carrier, so I will be in the market for a new phone and new plans, so Walmart just got added to the list of stores to check out!
i was just talking about this with a friend today she wants a phone for her tween daughter
$40 per month is a great price for a phone…and great for the teeny-bopper in your family for sure. Love that little green bag for it.
What a great gift idea. Especially for my boys, I love that I don’t have to worry about the rate changing either.
It’s really difficult to find a plan that works for everyone’s needs, especially when there’s a teen in the family. When I was teaching, most of what my students complained about revolved around their cell phones and how their parents chose the “wrong plans.” 😉 LOL I know that my aunt and uncle shop at Wal-Mart a lot and are due for a new plan, so I’ll pass along this info to them. With two teenage daughters, they need all the advice they can get- haha.
Thank you I keep trying to find info online thru reviews about the price of the phones and no one has ever included that in their review…. Thank you so much for taking the time to include the prices on their phones also I really needed that
Great saving and plan!
Loving the carrying purse!
Love the carrier! Although its just my hubby and I (our sons are 3 &4) I am always looking for a way to shave money off our budget. Thanks for the idea!
We are trying to find a way to save money on our cell phones! I will check this out!
Great collection of photos! And, it looks like a good family plan.
cute case you made- she will love it!! my hubby uses WFM and has for about 6?? months. its been great for us
I just turned my cell phone off because paying over $100 is rediculous. I will have to look into this. Thanks!
Who doesn’t want to save money?!?!
That sure sounds like a great plan. I have a Vodafone mobile Internet on my latpotp plan for unlimited data for E20/month, but only was able to get this because of being a student three years ago (I’m still a student but they don’t offer this discount anymore). I don’t use a smartphone.
I have heard of this already and it seems like such a crazy deal!!!!! I definitely am going to check into this when my contract is up! I can’t stand Sprint anymore!
I live in Canada 🙁 But it would be great if Walmart brought those kind of packages here. Canadian cell phone bills are crazy and we could use some more competition.
Thanks for sharing – I am trying to upgrade my phone as we speak!
