What Inspires You to Take Action Now and Win

african american woman jogging and a text box with the words "If you prepare in advance, you will be able to inspire yourself to take action now and you will win."
You must figure out what inspires you to take action now.  This is important because you won’t always feel like doing what you need to do. So you must find some things that inspire you to get moving.  When you know what inspires you to take action now you can always move when you need to. So take time today to find out what inspires you to take action now so you can win! When you discover what inspires you, it is easier to take action now and win. Inspiration can be defined as being mentally stimulated to do something, particularly something creative. If you want to succeed at anything, you must find your source of inspiration. The thing that inspires you will push you to move forward and get things done. Inspiration can help provide the why you need to do the things you need to do.

Find out what inspires you so when you get stuck, you can go to that fountain of inspiration and be refreshed.

Inspiration is that thing that gives you a kick in the pants to get up and do what needs to be done. A person in business, no matter what that business it is needs to know what inspires her to take action now. Over the course of your work life, there will be times when you just do not feel like working. There will be times when even though the to-do list is long, there is no way you can find the motivation or inspiration to get the work done and take action now. No matter what type of work you do, ranging from managing your home to running a Fortune 500 company, you need to learn what inspires you to take action now. There are as many sources of inspiration as there are people to be inspired. It is important to figure out what inspires you. You must figure out what gives you a swift kick in the pants when you need to get moving when you feel like curling up in a ball and not doing anything at all. That thing providing the swift kick that gets you to move is your inspiration. No matter who a person is, there will come a time when her get up and go, gets up and goes. This is a fact. Since it is a fact, it makes sense to prepare for it in advance. This means, preparing an inspiration toolkit that you can pull out when you feel stuck, uninspired, and unable to do what you need to do. There is a three-step process to build your inspiration kit. The first step is to do this, get out a pen and paper or the electronic device of your choosing, and write out or type out:
  • what are the things you must do personally and professionally each day
  • what is the reason why you must do these things each day
  • what tools or resources you need in order to do what you need to do each day
Once you have identified what you must do, why you do it, and what you need to do these things, you have something you can begin to work with. It is now time to move forward to step two. Now it is time to write out or type out:
  • times in the past when you could not take action now when the action was needed
  • what happened to keep you from doing what you needed to do
It is important to understand these two items. In order to get moving and to continue to progress, you must understand the things that hinder your progress. When making these two lists, be honest with yourself. Search deep. It is important to look deep before you leap. Now it is time for step three. Get out the trusty pen and paper or electronic device of your choosing and write out or type out:
  • what things have pushed you and helped you get back on target
  • music that inspires you to move
  • quotes that make you feel you can succeed
  • Bible verses that restore your faith in your abilities
  • list of friends and family members you know will push you to get back on target
You may be tempted to skip one of these steps. Do not do that. Instead, invest in yourself and your future by taking the time to go through each step. It is important to go through each step because each step builds on the ones before. Once you have completed these steps you have a good set of tools that will help you when you need to take action now and have a hard time getting it done.   [Tweet “Keep a list of things that help you take action now to use when you get stuck.”]

If you prepare in advance, you will be able to inspire yourself to take action now and you will win.

One of my favorite quotes of all time comes from the movie “Spy Game.” One of the characters, an older, seasoned spy asked and answered, “When did Noah build the ark, before the flood, before the flood.” That statement is directly applicable to finding your inspiration to take action now. Most things in life are cyclical. This means sometimes you will be fully inspired, ready, and able to take action now. At other times, you will be stuck, unable to move, and unable to find the inspiration to get going. Work must still be done even when you do not feel like it. These facts make it crucial for you to prepare for hard times during good times.     In addition, almost every person on the planet earth has heard the expression, “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” The reason why almost everyone has heard it is because it is true. Follow the instructions above and prepare for periods when inspiration is scarce. There will be times when you experience an inability to perform or business is stagnant and you cannot find a way to move forward. Those times will be more bearable and will end much faster if you have prepared for them in advance. With that in mind, do not wait until you are unable to take action now to review your inspiration sources. Spend time each day looking at affirmations, reading books, and building relationships that inspire you to do more, be more, and achieve more.   [Tweet “Do not wait for despair to look for inspiration, instead refresh and inspire yourself daily.”]   Place inspiring messages on bulletin boards, post-it notes, or even on the screens of your electronic devices. By doing this, reminders of your sources of strength and inspiration will be ever-present and ever at the ready. Do you keep inspirational stuff close at hand, or do you go looking for it when you need it?

  1. I haven’t been motivated or inspired in quite some time. I do know that whenever I see my kids having fun it does seem to inspire me. Hopefully this summer will be full of inspiration.

  2. This post was right on time! I was just sitting here staring at a blank computer screen trying to find the motivation to start on a project when it’s 81 and sunny outside my window!

  3. It definitely depends on the situation for me. If I know something has to be done and I have to do it, I make it happen.

  4. Reading inspires me so it helps me focus on what I’m working on. IT’s nice to take a break and find something new to to inspire me.

  5. My kids are my inspiration and my drive to do and be better. I think that is why I work so hard.

  6. Life itself is y greatest inspiration ..getting a new chance to do something each day is a reward in itself. On the days I’m not inspired , I look how far I’ve come

  7. Sometimes I have an automatic drive to do something. Other times I need a serious wake up call before I get any inspiration.

  8. Sometimes I get overwhelmed or just swamped with whatever task is at hand. For me, taking a complete break and getting away from it for a bit, totally changing gears really helps. When I come back to it, I can have a renewed approach and new perspective!

  9. Hmm … I think deadlines are my biggest motivation. I am such a procrastinator.

  10. I agree with Robin it depends on how badly something needs to be done. If it’s needs to be now ASAP I find a way if it doesn’t I’m a slacker.

  11. I usually find my inspiration within my kids. Everything I do is to better them and our lives so I am always inspired!

  12. Yes, I had recently lost my joie de vivre…for one day. It was horrible. But luckily, I just kept moving through the day. Rested. And within 24 hours I was back. My inspiration is always gratitude to God that I still have life, health, family/friends and my abilities.
