Women’s History Month is a great time to look at the words of Maya Angelou and the lessons they have for entrepreneurs. This quote is has a great lesson for entrepreneurs. That lesson is that everyone needs a break from time to time. Life is full of battles that must be fought. Most women have jobs, businesses, children, spouses and significant others. Many women are friends, sisters, wives, daughters, entrepreneurs, neighbors, citizens and customers. All of these roles are hard to play, hard to manage and full of all kinds of difficulties.
It is possible to spend entire days going from one problem to the next putting out fires and searching for solutions. Not only is this possible, often it is necessary and unavoidable. Things are called problems because they are difficult, unpleasant or hard to handle. We all have to deal with problems from time to time. It is part of the human condition. It is part of being an adult. At the same time, this is hard, tiring, even draining work.
Most people, if given a choice would like to have days when they can sit back and not deal with problems, consensus building, and solution searching. Most people would like to have peaceful days. There is something wonderful about being able to sit back relax and enjoy life without handling any problems or difficulties. It is important for you to take the time to enjoy your life. Have you ever woken up without the alarm clock, stretched and said, “aahhhh.” If you have, you know the wonderful joy of simply enjoying a moment.
Every person deserves and indeed needs an opportunity to spend an entire day simply enjoying life. A day with no fires, no problems, no controversies. Each person should find a way to have days to enjoy life rather than endure it. Set time aside on your calendar for joy days – days where you simply enjoy life and do things that bring you joy. You will be a better person for it!
They say those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. Entrepreneurs who want to succeed should ABL aka Always be Learning. So, the question for you this fantastic day is, what lesson do you when are you going to schedule your next peaceful day?
